Colophon
This site is a small set of plain pages, made to be read. Nothing on it needs JavaScript to be read. The few things that use it, such as copying a citation, footnotes in the margin, and the light and dark switch, are conveniences and nothing more.
Built with
The site is built with Astro, a tool that turns text files into ordinary web pages before anyone visits. It is hosted on Vercel, and its files live in a public repository on GitHub, so every change to it is on record. I wrote the words. I designed and built the site with Claude Code, an AI coding tool from Anthropic.
Typefaces
The text is set in EB Garamond, a revival of the sixteenth-century Garamond types. Labels, dates, and buttons are set in Instrument Sans. Both are free under the SIL Open Font License, and both are served from this site, not from a third party.
Color
A warm paper tone, ink, and one copper accent, used only for links and things you can press. There is a dark version, which follows your device unless you choose Light or Dark at the bottom of any page.
Privacy
This site sets no cookies and shows no advertising. Visits are counted with Vercel Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not follow you to other sites. If you subscribe to the weekly newsletter, If Only I Knew, it is sent through Buttondown, and nothing is shared with Buttondown until you submit your email address.
